Prevention is the essentially targeted due to knowledge and experience effort to address the causes that create and reproduce a problem in order to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of its occurrence.

Prevention is a process of training people in personal and social skills to meet the needs, demands, difficulties and challenges of life. It is a basic social process of intervention, which generally concerns various forms of social and mental pathology of an individual or a group. As a process, it empowers individuals and systems to meet the challenges of life events and changes, creating and enhancing the conditions that promote healthy behaviors, attitude and lifestyle.

Prevention is a way of life and a continuous process that happens every day in the family, at school, in the neighborhood, at work, in socializing with other people! It is the essential communication with ourselves and other people, the actions we can take in order to improve the conditions of our life and daily life, our participation in issues of the community in which we live and concern ourselves (commonly), the conscious choice to live without dependencies and “crutches” and finally to face the difficult situations by making choices that represent us and protect us!

1. Primary prevention (refers to actions, moves and interventions that are made to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a problem).

The primary prevention of all forms of divergences, dependencies, deviations is the most effective solution in matters of personal development and formation, social cohesion and enhancement of mental health! (It is the area that all the competent bodies, and of course the stakeholders, should focus).

2. Secondary prevention (refers to actions, moves and interventions that take place when a problem begins to occur).
3. Tertiary prevention (refers to actions, moves and interventions that are made to eliminate or reduce a problem that has already occurred or to prevent its recurrence in the future).
Prevention means education and that is why the philosophy of prevention is an absolutely positive process! Training empowers people so that they can recognize their abilities, learn themselves, resist pressure, manage what arises in everyday life, cope with difficult situations, learn to make the right choice (objective selection process) and to have a positive attitude and lifestyle.

When self-esteem, self-preservation, knowledge, education and sociability “forge” the character and psyche of man, then it is very likely that all self-destructive behaviors will never develop!

Prevention is not a cure. But it proves to be healing because it empowers, prepares and holistically takes care of the person so that he can cope in the best possible way with everything that occurs in his life!
When it is based on knowledge, experience, recording, experimentation and is applied with love, methodically, purposefully, consciously and without selfish interest!
All problems come from ignorance; in combination with the educational, financial, spiritual, personal and mental disability that parents may have.

In order for prevention to be effective, it needs to start from the birth of man, because then the foundations for the development of a healthy personality are created!

Therefore, the basic cyclic equation of initial prevention is:

Educating children on life skills, such as looking after and caring for themselves, communicating effectively with those around them and looking for alternative solutions to their problems, gives them a better chance of dealing with life with love, selflessness, dignity, honesty, strength, realism and respect by staying away from all kinds and forms of dependencies and deviant behaviors.

Waiting… and believing that prevention is necessary when children grow up and come in contact with the “dangers” is a big mistake!
